Decorating

I have watched decorating shows by the dozen this year to get ideas for my own home.  I know there are many talented decorators connected with these shows that have given me lots of wonderful ideas to use in my own home.   There is one thing that has bothered me watching these shows, and that is I have yet to see one where the decorators give the client exactly what they want.  The rooms always seem to have an element in which the decorator tells the client they will have to live with it for a while, or try to get used to it.  Some of the people are just plain unhappy with the design.  There is a lot of editing and buying of new items that happen on each show.    I like everything that I have purchased over the years, so getting rid of any is out of the question.  I want to work with the things I already have.  I have a very small kitchen with a lot of cookware and kitchen items to go in it.  So I am in the process of using space in my garage for extra storage.  I watch its  “ A Small Space” and have gotten ideas about finding and using found space in our rooms. I notice that I contain my things in one space instead of putting them through out the house.  I have no clue where that came from, but I have always put things close and on top of me it seems.  So the new way will be to spread out more and to be able to enjoy the items better.  I like that cable allows us to have a station specific to home needs, and decorating.  It allows me to take or to leave any ideas they have. I guess we all can use a little help in this area at one time or another.    Enjoy my pictures!!

The first collection I have is little chests.  I have bought them at antique stores and our local import store.  I want to group them so that it will maximize the collection and show it off better then spreading it out. They seem to get lost when they are all over the place.

This is the computer room/TV room/bedroom.  I've used many "found" items and it really turned out nice. The shelf is very old and leans against the wall.  I love old shelves and how much they hold.

This is a huge green cupboard that holds tons of cookware.  Love the look & color of it.  Also love that it's not fragile & I can store a lot on top of it.

Hanging utensils is the easiest way for me to get what I need quickly.  Love the racks from Metro Kitchen.

I hung a coat rack & placed handmade Christmas dolls on it.  They are the best quality dolls I've seen.  If you want info contact me,  The artist makes a variety of beautiful folk art items.

The three garden boxes were a gift from my son-in-law.  I love the look and placement of them.
